About the role

  • Animate game characters — idle loops, reactions, celebrations, transitions, and everything that gives a character personality
  • Create UI and feedback animations — screen transitions, correct/incorrect states, progress moments, micro-interactions
  • Upgrade existing rough animations into polished, production-ready motion
  • Design animation that serves learning — making correct answers feel rewarding and wrong answers feel safe to try again
  • Help develop animation style references and motion guidelines for new game projects
  • Explore AI animation tools to accelerate workflows and experiment with new techniques

Requirements

  • Strong grasp of animation fundamentals: timing, spacing, squash & stretch, anticipation, follow-through
  • Proficiency in animation software: Adobe Animate, After Effects, Spine, or Rive
  • A keen eye for art direction — you know what looks right, what feels off
  • Sensitivity to animating for children: motion that's playful, encouraging, and never punishing
  • Game feel awareness — your animations serve gameplay, not interrupt it
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance — you take a brief and run with it!
  • Nice to Have: Experience with AI animation tools or AI-assisted motion workflows
  • Illustration or character design ability
  • Prior experience animating for EdTech, children's products, or 2D games
  • Understanding of animation implementation in game engines (Unity or any web-based framework)
Benefits
  • Remote-first work culture
  • 3-month contract, with potential for full-time offer
