About the role
- Conduct sex education programs in schools and other community organizations tailored to meet the needs of each audience.
- Design culturally sensitive, age-appropriate, medically accurate and pedagogically sound content on a variety of human sexuality topics including but not limited to contraception, sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS prevention, safer sex practices, puberty and adolescent development, sexual orientation, sexual decision making and effective communication around issues of human sexuality.
- Coordinate outreach and develop and maintain community partnerships to promote PPGP’s health and educational services.
- Represent PPGP in the community, including at health fairs, schools, colleges and community events.
- Participate in health/sexuality-related committees and coalitions as requested.
- Act as a resource person, providing assistance to individuals seeking information and services related to sexuality and sexual health.
- Provide education to community about PPGP’s health services and build strong community relationships in order to increase patient volume at health centers.
- Maintain program records and produce monthly reports on program activities, accomplishments and challenges including program statistics, evaluation and demographic data.
- Respond to data requests from the Director of Grants when requested.
- Tailor program content and delivery, when necessary, to the objectives of the organizations and needs of program participants.
- Work with learning and development team to design, select, and update instructional materials for use in education and training programs.
- Keep current on sexuality and reproductive health information through trainings, workshops, professional associations, and outreach.
- Conduct educational sessions utilizing social media and other technologies.
- Attend PPGP staff meetings.
- Foster collaborative relationships with volunteers to support community-driven training efforts.
- Collaborate effectively with the Public Affairs/Communications, People Development, Development and Health Services teams on joint projects and annual campaigns.
- Participate in education and outreach initiatives across the four-state affiliate region, with travel required based on program needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience training reproductive health, human sexuality, adolescent development, and learning theory preferred.
- Ability to communicate non-judgmentally, sensitively and accurately about matters related to sexuality, reproductive health issues, values formation, and decision making to young people and adults.
- Experience working with youth and diverse populations, speaking in public, and implementing, coordinating, and evaluating programs preferred.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva.
- Must be a motivated, self-starter and able to function productively and effectively with a degree of autonomy.
