About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic leadership to mass market fundraising at scale and unify federation-facing activities to maximize collective fundraising potential
  • Develop a cohesive strategy for affiliate engagement, fundraising, and service delivery
  • Oversee the Direct Response fundraising program, generating over $230 million in revenue
  • Drive revenue growth and efficiency through direct response fundraising strategies and novel donor-engagement approaches
  • Create a compelling value proposition and roadmap for collaborative federation fundraising
  • Serve as primary leader interfacing with affiliate partners and deputy to the CDO for affiliate relations
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a seamless donor experience across the federation
  • Partner with Development Data, Operations and Technology leadership on technical, data, and operational fundraising strategy
  • Design and lead collaborative philanthropy strategies and enhance affiliate services and satisfaction
  • Drive integrated, data-driven fundraising strategies across the national office and federation
  • Lead evaluation and improvement of the collaborative fundraising program
  • Assess and improve internal processes, goal planning, alignment, performance, and teamwork
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a diverse team of fundraising professionals
  • Serve as a key voice in National Office leadership and inform long-term financial and strategic decisions
  • Report to the Chief Development Officer and lead a team of approximately 50 professionals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Deep commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission and an inclusive, equitable work environment
  • Minimum 20 years of experience in complex, high-volume marketing technology and fundraising systems
  • At least 8 years of leadership experience navigating federated or chapter-based fundraising models
  • Contribution-based fundraising or nonprofit experience preferred
  • Proven experience managing or integrating direct response and digital marketing programs for mass-market revenue
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational shifts between a national office and local affiliates
  • Expertise designing and executing collaborative fundraising models balancing national scale with local impact
  • Proven track record leading with empathy and building relationships in challenging, high-pressure organizational dynamics
  • Understanding of nonprofit governance structures
  • Ability to propose and lead implementation of federation-wide agreements
  • Ability to lead a diverse team and develop fundraising talent
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Willingness to travel 30%–50% to engage with affiliate leadership
