About the role
- Perform medical assisting tasks under direction of medical providers (including client education and support)
- Conduct laboratory testing and process products of conception for abortion services
- Maintain electronic medical files and client record systems, including lab results
- Perform routine office duties: answer telephone, make appointments, provide referrals, explain and collect fees, enter client information
- Interview clients to obtain medical history and provide client-centered education
- Provide factual, nonbiased information about all FDA approved birth control methods and information for those seeking abortion
- Assist medical provider in examination and procedure-surgical rooms
- Describe the difference between medical and surgical abortions
- Assure center opening, closing, maintenance, cleanliness, and appropriate stocking of equipment and supplies
- Participate in maintenance and training of team members and volunteers for abortion care
- Support other health centers within the Salt Lake Valley as needed
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent is required
- 2 years clinical experience
- Experience in a medical center setting
- Education in medical area or in family planning preferred but not required
- Computer competency is preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish ability is required
- Ability to communicate with clients in a non-directive manner about all options available to them in the event of an unintended pregnancy
