About the role

  • Provide expertise in remote sensing and geospatial technologies to support adoption of the Planet Platform
  • Understand and align Professional Services project development to customer business and technology strategies
  • Build software tools, proofs of concept and sample applications; improve applications using Planet’s APIs and analytics endpoints
  • Implement, integrate, and analyze new software and data products that extend the Planet Platform for federal customers
  • Own the customer success lifecycle for Professional Services engagements from scoping and discovery to execution and delivery (writing requirements documents, applying data analytics, collaborating with software engineers, leading training events, delivering solutions)
  • Lead trainings, present at conferences, write technical tutorials, and publish articles and videos to champion Planet products
  • Gather insights from customer engagements and the user community to influence product direction

Requirements

  • 2+ years industry experience working in the DoD/IC space
  • Ability to program in Python to process imagery, manipulate vector data, interact with APIs and build data pipelines
  • Familiarity with Linux systems and knowledge of shell scripting
  • Expertise with QGIS, Esri software, GDAL or other common geospatial software
  • Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and machine learning
  • Ability to lead customer engagements
  • Ability to run workshops or training sessions with users
  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Remote Sensing, Geography or a related field
  • Active or current TS/SCI Clearance (preferred)
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar systems & code bases
  • Systems integrations experience working with multi domain/multi level security architectures with the USG, particularly the DOD/IC
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript and its mapping libraries (OpenLayers, Leaflet, ArcGIS API for JavaScript), Google Earth Engine and its SDK
  • Experience with RDBMS (PostgreSQL, SQL) and distributed databases (NoSQL)
  • Experience in geopolitics and data science
  • Ability to pick up new technologies quickly
  • Experience with building analytical products from complex datasets
  • GEOINT experience, imagery exploitation and analysis
  • Great cross-functional communication and collaboration
  • Experience debugging & triaging complex problems
  • Experience working independently or as part of a team
