About the role

  • Preparing export/import authorization requests required to support international sales and company operations, to include reviewing business documents to assist in scoping export-import authorizations to support business objectives
  • Managing the full lifecycle of export/import authorizations, to include internal training/implementation, preparation and submission of post-approval regulatory filings, review of associated export activity, and associated recordkeeping
  • Conducting export/import training and providing formal and informal communication/guidance to internal and external stakeholders regarding export/import compliance
  • Serving as interface with U.S. government agencies in support of trade compliance initiatives
  • Providing guidance and interpretation of US government regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, to include internal technology control plans
  • Reviewing and approving international travel requests, foreign visit requests, and export/import transactions of hardware, data and services.
  • Assisting in review of international trade compliance terms for proposals/contracts and providing recommendations
  • Working with technical subject matter experts to document export classification order of review assessments and tracking new technology developments within the company
  • Preparing/filing Commodity Jurisdiction Requests, Commodity Classification Requests, and Advisory Opinions, as needed
  • Making formal presentations in meetings and/or training environments
  • Negotiating export/import control matters with internal and external stakeholders and resolving in a win/win manner
  • Supporting with sanctions and anti-bribery/anti-corruption compliance matters, when needed
  • Supporting with conducting compliance audits/assessments/investigations, implementing corrective actions, and drafting findings/disclosures, as needed

Requirements

  • 4+ years experience in international trade compliance, legal, or contracting
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Self-motivated, critical and strategic thinker with strong negotiation, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience reading and applying the ITAR and EAR
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all deliverables
  • Solid commitment to integrity and professionalism
  • Solid ability to work independently as well as with teams
  • Ability to drive results by successfully influencing and aligning stakeholders across multiple departments, even without direct reporting authority
  • Must be able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
