About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Operationalize and scale Phaidra’s AI-powered control solutions for enterprise data center customers
  • Create facility models for ingestion by Phaidra’s products in collaboration with Data Science
  • Understand facilities and configure products according to facility and customer requirements
  • Commission, tune, analyze, and triage deployed control systems
  • Identify and define product requirements based on customer specifications and needs
  • Translate customer-stated and customer-implied needs into documentation for software development
  • Lead deployment and ongoing support of multiple solutions, potentially in parallel
  • Resolve onboarding and support tickets by coordinating with stakeholders or providing direct solutions
  • Monitor solution performance, troubleshoot control systems and equipment, analyze issues, and manage risk
  • Act as an internal and customer-facing subject matter expert
  • Deliver platinum customer support, advise research projects, and support sales and marketing efforts
  • Participate in customer onboarding, new system creation, troubleshooting, site visits, code repository contributions, and business process refinement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Located in the USA or Canada
  • 5–10 years of work experience as a controls engineer, programmer, or equivalent
  • Expertise in HVAC and data center cooling control methodologies and strategies
  • Knowledge of chiller plant fundamentals, configurations, and sequence of operations
  • Understanding of applied thermodynamics for cooling systems, refrigeration systems, and hydronics
  • Experience in controls design engineering or strong working knowledge of industrial and commercial control systems and protocols such as BACnet and Modbus
  • Understanding of air-side chilled-water and direct-expansion cooling systems and control strategies
  • Proficiency working with data center operations teams and solving field-operations problems
  • Experience programming control systems with PLC, ladder logic, text, or block programming languages
  • Good educational background in a related discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Control Theory, Applied Mathematics, engineering, or applied sciences
  • Ability to read and write Python scripts in collaboration with software engineering
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex domain-specific and AI/ML concepts to non-experts
  • Ability to own and manage documentation
  • Ability to understand customers and drive customer satisfaction
  • Ability to support peers and conduct pairing sessions
  • Ability to independently use AI tools to improve workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and support onboarding and troubleshooting

  • Ability to travel up to 25%
