About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide therapeutic-area and product expertise in malignant hematology and pipeline products across medical customer segments and initiatives
  • Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for assigned customers in Northern CA, OR, WA, ID, AK, and HI
  • Maintain knowledge of malignant hematology disease states and Pfizer medicines
  • Provide medical information to healthcare professionals and internal and external stakeholders
  • Serve as a resource for medical information and customer insights
  • Develop and execute aligned Field Medical tactics and contribute to medical content strategy
  • Communicate and collaborate with headquarters medical colleagues and other Pfizer Field Medical colleagues
  • Deliver approved medical content on Pfizer medicines and malignant hematology topics
  • Identify and engage priority customer segments
  • Respond to unsolicited medical requests from healthcare professionals with accurate, scientifically supported information
  • Field inbound healthcare-professional queries through the established triage process
  • Partner with Oncology Research & Development and Global Product Development to identify potential clinical-trial sites, including sites serving under-represented patient populations
  • Provide medical support throughout the Investigator Sponsored Research process
  • Cultivate malignant hematology expertise through congress data and disease-state literature
  • Provide asset leadership and understand study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation
  • Lead the assigned territory and communicate with local Patient Advocacy Groups
  • Deliver insights on patient-organization structure, capabilities, and population needs
  • Serve on Medical, therapeutic-area, and asset cross-functional committees
  • Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs with clinical and professional associations and societies
  • Mentor onboarding partners, advisory-board participants, and study leads
  • Manage projects in a remote environment and work within a matrixed, multidisciplinary team
  • Adopt digital technologies and record medical interactions
  • Travel extensively to healthcare-professional/customer meetings, internal meetings, and scientific congresses

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health science required
  • PharmD/PhD with 5+ years of relevant experience, MBA/MSc with 7+ years, or BA/BSc with 8+ years
  • Subject matter expertise in malignant hematology recognized across internal and external stakeholders
  • Currently reside in Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, or Hawaii, with preference for major cities in Northern California, Oregon, or Washington
  • Ability to manage significant project volume in a remote environment
  • Ability to prioritize, implement successfully, exercise excellent judgment, and work in a continuous-improvement environment
  • Ability to work within a matrixed, multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to lead and manage change in an evolving external healthcare environment
  • Change agility and adaptability to new therapeutic areas, territories, projects, and organizational changes
  • Problem-solving and enterprise-wide networking skills
  • Ability to rapidly adopt and use digital technology and resources with medical customers and record medical interactions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate a Pfizer company car
  • Ability to regularly fly on airplanes
  • Proximity to an airline hub city
  • Flexibility to travel 60–80% of the time
  • Ability to work weekends when required for advisory boards, regional meetings, and congresses
  • PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree highly preferred
  • Deep expertise and/or clinical experience in malignant hematology
  • Established healthcare-professional network in the territory
  • Familiarity with internal/external SOPs, rules, and regulations regarding Pfizer/customer interactions
  • Previous Field Medical experience
  • Clinical and technical skills
  • Diverse leadership experience, including influencing and collaborating with peers, coaching others, and guiding colleagues’ work
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict-management skills
  • Candidates must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer
  • Permanent work authorization in the United States required
  • U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future
