About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define the overall strategy and governance model for application engineering and productionization
- Establish frameworks, patterns, and standards for building, deploying, and maintaining AI and digital products
- Make architectural decisions across front-end, full-stack, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines
- Partner with product, data engineering, data strategy, platform, and operations leaders on architecture and engineering standards
- Oversee the design, development, and rollout of reusable, maintainable applications and tools
- Lead front-end and full-stack teams implementing secure, scalable interfaces and enterprise integrations
- Establish and govern CI/CD pipelines, release management, and environment configuration
- Guide AI/ML engineering teams in deploying, versioning, and monitoring models in production
- Define application quality standards and performance metrics for uptime, latency, reliability, and user experience
- Oversee automated testing, logging, and observability platforms
- Establish proactive issue detection, incident response, and continuous improvement mechanisms
- Build and lead an engineering organization of approximately 30 FTEs and hundreds of contractors
- Set technical direction, review designs and code, and mentor senior engineers and engineering managers
- Foster technical excellence, accountability, continuous learning, reuse, automation, and engineering rigor
- Ensure seamless integration with data pipelines, APIs, and orchestration frameworks
- Align engineering practices with enterprise governance, security, and compliance requirements
- Shape application roadmaps using user and stakeholder feedback, adoption, performance, and business impact
- Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs to senior leadership
- Promote agile delivery, DevOps, continuous delivery, and modern software development tooling
- Apply emerging application engineering, AI integration, and cloud infrastructure practices to drive innovation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required
- 12+ years of relevant professional experience
- Proven people-leadership experience building and developing high-performing teams
- Experience working within regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, banking, or insurance
- Ability to navigate and influence within large, complex organizations
- Strong stakeholder-management capabilities across diverse functions and seniority levels
- Recognized industry thought leader with enterprise-wide strategic impact
- Demonstrated program and operations management expertise in large, regulated environments
- Proven success managing quality standards, leading efficient development teams, and optimizing complex staffing and resource allocation models
- Deep expertise in cross-functional integration and operational effectiveness within a large corporate ecosystem
- Ability to travel based on business needs
- Candidates must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer
- U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future
- Position requires permanent work authorization in the United States
