About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and advance an integrated, cross-pathogen medical strategy linking pathogen biology, life-course protection, and evidence generation across the portfolio
  • Own and evolve the unified Vaccines Scientific Communication Platform
  • Develop cross-pathogen scientific narratives, publications, congress content, and medical-to-medical content
  • Set scientific priorities for priority specialties and shared high-risk populations
  • Lead data disclosure and publication plans with clinical and medical teams during data readouts
  • Anticipate scientific, epidemiologic, and policy trends and translate insights into portfolio strategy
  • Advise senior leaders across the Global Business Unit on complex scientific decisions
  • Partner across Medical, Commercial, Corporate Communications, and international medical teams
  • Manage budgets, agencies, and offshore teams for portfolio-level deliverables
  • Serve as a trusted scientific point of contact with current knowledge of vaccine assets, pathogen biology, and policy issues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • MD with an MPH and at least 4 years of experience in a relevant scientific area, or PhD with an MPH and at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Relevant experience in Medical Affairs, Scientific Communications, Epidemiology, Immunology, Vaccinology, or Virology in a biopharmaceutical, biotech, or agency setting
  • Deep scientific grounding in vaccines, including immunology, pathogen biology, and evidence generation across the vaccine lifecycle
  • Experience developing medical or scientific strategy at an asset, portfolio, above-asset, or franchise level
  • Experience developing scientific communications and content that support scientific exchange
  • Experience translating complex scientific data across multiple pathogens or therapeutic areas into clear communications for varied audiences
  • Strong track record of written and oral scientific communication, including at scientific conferences
  • Experience delivering compliant scientific content in a highly regulated environment
  • Experience with publications, plain language summaries, congress materials, podcasts, and short-form digital articles
  • Track record of peer-reviewed scientific publications
  • Experience building credibility and working through influence across cross-functional teams
  • Experience spanning multiple vaccine pathogens or a broad vaccines portfolio preferred
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, and oversee colleagues’ work to achieve meaningful outcomes
  • Must live within commuting distance of the applicable work location and work on-site an average of 2.5 days per week
  • Candidates must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer
  • Permanent work authorization in the United States required; U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future
