About the role
- Act as a subject matter expert for Canadian defined benefit pension plans within ProVal
- Maintain and enhance ProVal’s Canadian functionality to reflect current legislation, regulations, CIA Standards of Practice, and pension related financial reporting requirements
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Canadian clients on technical pension matters
- Test ProVal enhancements and client specific solutions to ensure technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and consistency with actuarial standards
- Provide expert guidance to ProVal users on Canadian pension applications
- Work closely with programmers and consultants to design and implement client solutions
- Prepare and maintain clear, practical user documentation and training materials
- Optional: ProVal is coded primarily in APL; no prior programming experience is required, and training is provided
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience performing actuarial valuations of defined benefit pension plans under Canadian legislation
- Deep knowledge of Canadian pension funding rules, regulations, CIA Standards of Practice, and pension related financial reporting
- Experience with pension projections and forecasting a plus
- Experience managing projects and professional relationships is an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi disciplinary team environment
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or a related discipline
- CIA designation (FCIA) or significant progress toward qualification is a plus
