About the role

  • Manage business tax engagements for closely held family groups and individual owners with emphasis on flow-through entities and 1040 implications
  • Review complex tax returns, research complex tax issues, and provide technical tax guidance
  • Supervise project teams, manage client relationships, and oversee collection of accounts receivable
  • Participate in due diligence for buy/sell M&A transactions and advise on taxable/nontaxable reorganizations, corporate issues, and distributions
  • Work collaboratively with distributed tax and audit teams across geographies
  • Mentor staff through training, development courses, and career coaching
  • Assist with multi-state returns, provisions, consolidated returns, ASC 740, partnership basis adjustments, and foreign reporting as needed

Requirements

  • Active CPA License
  • 5+ years of recent experience in public accounting that includes 2 in a manager capacity, working in a paperless environment, reviewing complex returns, researching complex tax issues, managing client relationships, supervising project teams, and collection of accounts receivable
  • Experience reviewing business tax returns (primarily forms 1120, 1120S; some 1065 & 1040)
  • Experience with provisions; consolidated returns; multi-state returns; ASC 740
  • Experience with Partnership basis adjustments
  • Due diligence experience on both buy/sell sides of M&A activity; familiar with taxable/nontaxable reorganizations and mergers, corporate issues of 382/383, E&P, and liquidating distributions
  • Familiarity with foreign reporting experience (Form 5471, 5472, FBAR, 8865, 1042) preferred
  • Excellent communication skills including a proven ability to give and receive positive and constructive feedback
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and ability to solve problems (critical thinker)
  • Collaborative approach to getting work done, shares knowledge, and seeks knowledge of others as appropriate
  • Adept at using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and tax software (preferably CCH Axcess & Engagement)
