About the role
- Seasoned senior tax manager joining growing business tax team focusing on closely held family groups and their individual owners
- Relationship-heavy work managing client relationships and supervising project teams
- Review complex business tax returns (1120, 1120S, 1065, 1040), provisions, consolidated and multi-state returns, and ASC 740
- Research complex tax issues and provide technical guidance
- Perform due diligence on buy/sell sides of M&A and advise on reorganizations, mergers, 382/383, E&P, liquidating distributions
- Handle partnership basis adjustments and foreign reporting matters as needed
- Work collaboratively with tax and audit teams across locations; support local business leaders in Portland/Seattle market
- Participate in collection of accounts receivable and manage client deliverables
Requirements
- Active CPA License
- 7+ years of recent experience in public accounting that includes at least 1 in a senior manager capacity, working in a paperless environment, reviewing complex returns, researching complex tax issues, managing client relationships, supervising project teams, and collection of accounts receivable
- Experience reviewing (not just preparing) business tax returns (primarily forms 1120, 1120S; some 1065 & 1040); provisions; consolidated returns; multi-state returns; ASC 740
- Experience with partnership basis adjustments
- Due diligence experience on both buy/sell sides of M&A activity. Well-versed in taxable/nontaxable transactions of reorganizations and mergers, corporate issues of 382/383, E&P, and liquidating distributions.
- Familiarity with foreign reporting experience (Form 5471, 5472, FBAR, 8865, 1042) is preferred
- Excellent communication skills including a proven ability to give and receive positive and constructive feedback
- Organized, detail-oriented, and ability to solve problems (critical thinker)
- Collaborative approach to getting work done, shares knowledge, and seeks knowledge of others as appropriate
- Embraces new/changing technology; adept at using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and tax software (preferably CCH Axcess & Engagement)
