About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform start-up, shutdown, lockout, sanitation, and operation of packaging process equipment
Troubleshoot equipment and make adjustments to ensure efficient product flow
Ensure product quality within controlled parameters to minimize waste
Operate and monitor packaging equipment from extruder discharge to palletizing
Perform package integrity and quality checks, including metal, seals, code date, product weight, and case counts/weights
Monitor and maintain correct product and case weights
Handle machine scrap and waste
Enter data into the computer
Maintain safe operations and comply with safety and GMP policies
Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including shift hand-off and sanitation processes
Operate floor scrubber and other cleaning devices
Notify maintenance or the supervisor when equipment requires attention
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Previous manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution experience required
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to perform arithmetic with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to work overtime beyond the normal schedule
Strong troubleshooting and problem analysis skills
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, uniform, hairnet, beard net, and mask when required
Ability to work in dusty conditions and use breathing protection devices as required
Ability to stand, walk, reach, handle objects, and use hands for repetitive tasks
Ability to occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and push or pull 350-pound wheeled carts
Required close, distance, and peripheral vision
Flexibility to learn and work in other job functions
Valid driver's license and ability to travel between facilities preferred
