About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- As a key member of our manufacturing team, the Technician participates in Integrated Work Systems (IWS), a continuous improvement framework that helps teams operate more efficiently through standard processes, employee ownership, problem solving, and skill development, to build technical capability, equipment ownership, and understanding of standard work.
- The Technician will demonstrate proficiency through training, assessments, observations, and certification steps required for assigned work areas or equipment.
- Support continuous improvement by applying learned skills, following standards, identifying losses, and contributing to team capability and performance goals.
- Efficiently and safely operate and monitor all packaging equipment to maintain product flow from discharge of the extruder to palletize.
- Responsible for package integrity and quality checks, including metal, seals, code date, and product weight and case counts/weights.
- Monitor and maintain correct product/case weights.
- Handle scrap and waste from machine, as necessary.
- Troubleshoot equipment to ensure continuous operation.
- Perform data entry into the computer.
- Work in a safe and responsible manner, exercising caution to avoid accidents, prevent injury to people or damage to the equipment.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area.
- Ensure the area is clean and organized as part of the shift hand-off and weekly shutdown/sanitation process.
- Responsible for notifying maintenance or supervisor when line or piece of line is down and needs attention.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to work overtime hours, above your normal schedule, to meet customer’s demands.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem analysis skills.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)- Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Uniform, Hairnet, Beard net, and Mask when required.
- Occasionally exposed to dusty conditions due to the handling of bulk products.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally push/pull 350-pound carts with wheels.
