About the role
- Create realistic and stylized movements for game characters (humanoids, creatures, or machines).
- Follow and help shape the established vision for the game's story and gameplay throughout the animation creation process.
- Produce high-quality content using both hand animation and motion capture data.
- Develop animations that support gameplay and visuals.
- Implement and refine animation elements within the game.
- Collaborate with the team to create a dynamic, player-focused experience.
- Troubleshoot and resolve animation issues across departments.
- Deliver R&D projects and contribute pipeline and workflow improvements.
- Fix bugs and document R&D case studies in the knowledge base.
- Occasionally support the project lead in recruitment efforts in collaboration with HR.
- Occasionally assist with onboarding of new employees.
Requirements
- Strong mentoring skills.
- Excellent understanding and mastery of animation principles: timing, weight, and staging.
- Excellent understanding of character anatomy.
- Bring new and current industry standards to the project.
- Excellent ability to translate game story and gameplay into believable, lively animations.
- Strong artistic skills: storyboarding, silhouette studies, gesture drawing, 2D animation, illustration, and painting.
- Ability to think outside conventional frameworks to find more efficient techniques.
- Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine or a good understanding of the capabilities and limitations of other game engines.
- Responsible and self-motivated.
- Proficiency in Unreal or a similar game engine.
- Software: MAYA and Unreal.
- Experience: Over 8 years of professional experience in the video game industry.
