About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manages and executes payroll processes for weekly and monthly paid populations
  • Ensures compliance with hiring practices within the GSE
  • Supports program and departmental stakeholders
  • Suggests process improvements
  • Oversees end-to-end payroll processing for employee populations
  • Reviews and approves payroll transactions including new hires and terminations
  • Performs as a key system administrator within Workday
  • Guides new hires and supervisors through the onboarding process
  • Maintains compliance across all payroll operations
  • Supports internal and external audits by maintaining thorough documentation
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries
  • Provides support for international employment needs including visa applications
  • Oversees the onboarding process for Visiting Scholars

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of payroll or financial operations experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong attention to detail and compliance knowledge
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Three to five years of payroll or financial operations experience (preferred)
  • Experience with Workday (preferred)
  • Experience in higher education payroll (preferred)
  • Knowledge of grant-funded payroll processes (preferred)
