About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the educational, research, clinical, and philanthropic needs of the Perelman School of Medicine
  • Perform moves management and lead portfolio development by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major, principal, and planned giving prospects
  • Partner with clinical departments and divisions, serving as a resource on identifying potential graduate medical education alumni donors
  • Collaborate with Penn Medicine Development Communications on major prospect proposals
  • Coordinate special events for prospects and donors in collaboration with Alumni Relations team
  • Serve as a resource to the Annual Giving team on identifying reunion donors and annual giving campaign prospects
  • Collaborate with University senior leadership and development colleagues on prospects and donors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in institutional development (or related field)
  • Experience in cultivating major gifts from individuals and organizations
  • Knowledge or experience in planned giving
  • Ability to function independently and within a centralized development structure
  • Demonstrated ability to meet fundraising goals
  • Strong administrative experience and project management style
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff members
  • High integrity and trust
  • Ability to distill information into strategic core messages
  • Adaptive to rapidly changing environments
  • Excellent computer and writing/communication skills
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and Microsoft Outlook is preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required and ability to travel locally and nationally
