About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee the administration of all departmental budgets
- Screen and approve expenditures; review and verify transactions
- Provide monthly financial reports to account owners
- Prepare quarterly forecasts and annual budgets
- Oversee grant management activities
- Ensure compliance with institutional financial policies and internal controls
- Supervise departmental financial staff; provide guidance, training, and mentorship
- Monitor and manage all departmental personnel and payroll activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science
- 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (Business Manager B)
- 5 to 7 years of experience is preferred
- Demonstrated experience supporting financial operations, budgeting, and personnel or payroll processes
- 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination for Business Manager C
- Advanced experience in financial management, budget planning and forecasting, personnel administration, and staff supervision
- A cover letter is required including a description of sponsored programs & supervisory experience
- Experience with Penn financial systems (BEN Financials, Workday, Hyperion Planning, Business Objects, PennERA) is preferred but not required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
