About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop social media strategies and their execution for the francophone market, tailored to the specifics of each platform.
- Creatively and strategically expand MétéoMédia’s social media footprint by identifying emerging platforms, technologies, trends, and best practices.
- Work closely with The Weather Network’s social team to create innovative campaigns, promotions, and content concepts that elevate the MétéoMédia brand while considering the behavior and preferences of French-speaking audiences.
- Track KPIs using reporting tools (Simply Measured, Google Analytics) on a monthly basis and adjust the current strategy as needed.
- Analyze performance and deliver reports for various social media campaigns and initiatives.
- Provide ongoing feedback and training to MétéoMédia’s video and editorial teams to optimize social content offerings.
- Create, monitor, and optimize social advertising campaigns.
- Identify social media monetization opportunities.
- Support internal stakeholders (sales, marketing, partnerships) from start to finish on their social initiatives (brainstorming, proposals, campaign execution, reporting, and recommendations).
- Define and maintain MétéoMédia’s editorial voice on social media as an extension of the brand personality and content strategy.
- Personify MétéoMédia’s voice across social platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.
- Oversee the work of MétéoMédia’s external YouTube consultant to ensure content strategy alignment and that goals and objectives are met.
- Monitor MétéoMédia’s social platforms and engage with users.
- Provide French-language B2C customer support on social media platforms and the web inbox, following guidance from the Director of Communications and Administration.
- Support public personality accounts (CCP and weather presenters) associated with the MétéoMédia brand through mentoring and training.
- Support Pelmorex’s social media accounts by providing French- and Québec-focused content.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve service on social media platforms.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Post-secondary degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or equivalent experience.
- Bilingual (English/French) required for written and verbal communication.
- 2–5 years of related work experience in online community management and content creation for social media platforms, preferably in news, weather, or media industries.
- Strong understanding of the social media landscape, platforms, and native analytics tools, including but not limited to X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Hands-on experience with social analytics tools such as Sprout Social and Google Analytics.
- Photo-editing skills using software like Adobe Photoshop or Canva are an asset but not required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
