Key responsibilities & impact

Monitor and triage security alerts, performing basic investigations
Follow established playbooks for initial response actions
Document findings and escalate potential threats in a timely manner
Assist with user and service account access reviews
Review and process whitelist requests
Analyze reported phishing emails and help identify trends
Perform basic log reviews and data validation
Maintain and update runbooks/playbooks
Participate in incident post-mortems
Track and report on recurring alerts for tuning opportunities
Ensure tickets and alerts are properly categorized and closed for audit readiness
Support audit and compliance requests

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required
Typically requires 1-3 years of experience in related field
Certifications related to cyber security: Security+, GSEC
Basic ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
Trouble shooting skills
Ability to work on a team or individually as needed
Analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong attention to detail
Knowledge of troubleshooting and familiarity with Windows/Linux/Unix operating systems, log analysis, and correlation
Understanding of compliance standards and security frameworks (COBIT, NIST, HIPAA, ISO27001/2, OWASP, PCI)
Familiarity with networking communication protocols and network/host security technologies
Knowledge of security regulations that impact the insurance industry (GLBA, HIPAA, PCI)
