About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare, submit and amend Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) in line with NZGTTM, RCA requirements and client/project expectations
- Develop accurate traffic management diagrams and supporting planning documentation
- Design practical traffic management solutions considering site conditions, construction methodology, traffic flow and pedestrian movements
- Ensure solutions address the safety of workers, road users and the public
- Review and update TMPs when project requirements, methodology or site conditions change
- Maintain accurate records of TMPs, revisions, submissions and approvals
- Complete planning documentation accurately and within agreed deadlines
- Work closely with Operations teams, Branch Managers and STMSs to understand project requirements
- Provide planning and technical support during project preparation and delivery
- Incorporate site, construction and operational information into TMP designs
- Respond to planning queries and support operational teams
- Identify and escalate complex planning matters
- Support implementation of approved TMPs
- Liaise with clients regarding project requirements and traffic management expectations
- Prepare and coordinate Corridor Access Requests (CARs), permits and associated documentation
- Work with Road Controlling Authorities, councils and other approval agencies
- Monitor planning submissions, approvals and revisions
- Communicate planning progress and respond to enquiries
- Maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Ensure compliance with current NZGTTM and RCA requirements
- Keep up to date with traffic management standards and industry practices
- Review feedback, audits and project outcomes to improve planning quality
- Improve planning processes, templates and documentation
- Contribute knowledge and ideas to the planning team
- Participate in training and professional development
- Apply a safety-focused approach and consider site-specific risks and control measures
- Follow Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures
- Report hazards, incidents and improvement opportunities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in Traffic Management Planning, TMP Design or a related TTM role
- Working knowledge of the New Zealand Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (NZGTTM)
- Experience preparing Traffic Management Plans and associated documentation
- Experience creating traffic management diagrams and practical TTM solutions
- Experience using RapidPlan or similar traffic management planning software
- Understanding of Road Controlling Authority requirements and approval processes
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical documentation
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Operations teams, STMSs, clients and external stakeholders
- Practical understanding of how TMPs are implemented in roadwork, construction or traffic management environments
- Current TTM Planner qualification or currently working towards one
- Current STMS qualification
- Previous operational traffic management experience
- Experience working with multiple Road Controlling Authorities
- Experience supporting civil construction, infrastructure, roadworks or similar projects
- Experience with CARs, permits and traffic management approval processes
- Full New Zealand Driver Licence
