Lead and provide guidance/support to the Revenue team; ensure compliance with company and accounting policies
Review/approve journal entries and reconciliations per month-end close (deferred fuel, revenue accruals/adjustments, cost of gas accruals, other entries)
Assist with research and compliance of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles rules and regulations
Review reconciliations of deferred fuel, revenue adjustments, cost of gas and other accounts monthly
Assist with review/analysis of monthly Revenue Summary and act as backup for review meetings
Review 191 reconciliations and assist with regulatory filings pertaining to 191 balances
Assist in preparation/review of rate cases, annual cost of gas adjustments, and regulatory commission requests
Support interim and annual financial statement audits
Become primary systems knowledge owner; lead resolution processes for system issues and enhancements
Assist with training of new employees and new systems; perform other ad-hoc requests
Requirements
Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience
Minimum 3 years in a regulated utility preferred, preferably in regulatory department or accounting staff
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
Advanced degree preferred
CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Business Acumen – ability to translate strategic financial leadership into financial and performance management insight
Analytical capability – strong analytical and process skills; ability to model outcomes from regulatory processes
Transaction skills – ability to negotiate with commission and governmental staff
