About the role
- Develop, implement, and oversee all regulatory compliance and safety programs within ITAD operations.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for certification bodies during audits.
- Manage annual third-party audits and ensure timely corrective action.
- Oversee data sanitization processes to ensure compliance with NIST 800-88.
- Review and approve Certificates of Data Destruction and Certificates of Recycling.
- Develop and enforce internal compliance policies and training programs.
- Conduct internal audits and identify/remediate compliance risks.
- Prepare and present compliance metrics and audit outcomes to leadership.
- Monitor and report on safety KPIs to senior leadership, identifying trends and recommending improvements.
Requirements
- 5+ years in safety & compliance experience, preferably within warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, or ITAD/e-waste operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing R2, e-Stewards, NAID or similar certifications through full audit cycles.
- Strong working knowledge of data security standards (NIST 800-88, HIPAA, GDPR as they relate to hardware disposition) preferred.
- Experience interpreting and applying federal and state environmental regulations (EPA, RCRA, state e-waste statutes).
- Proficiency in maintaining chain-of-custody systems and compliance documentation platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex regulatory language for operational teams.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and develop practical, effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and training facilitation skills - able to engage employees at all levels.
- Proficient in maintaining safety records, conducting audits, and preparing regulatory reports.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain a positive safety culture across multiple locations.
- Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment is a plus.
- Passion for digital equity, sustainability, and scalable community impact.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Must be flexible, self-motivated, and adaptable.
