About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Create and execute measurable marketing plans for defence-related projects, pursuits, and strategic initiatives
  • Develop strategic marketing materials and campaigns to enhance brand awareness
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, creative teams, and external vendors on deliverables and marketing strategies
  • Translate executive strategies, industry insights, and technical information into accessible content
  • Plan and participate in federal government and defence-related industry events
  • Monitor competitor differentiators and market trends to support positioning and business growth
  • Create written content across multiple channels and provide editing and proofreading
  • Create and execute communication plans for defence projects, campaigns, events, and initiatives across Canada
  • Develop external communications, including news releases, website content, and articles
  • Develop social media content using platform-specific audience, risk, and best-practice knowledge
  • Lead event communications and provide coordination and logistical support
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on media coverage, communication metrics, and engagement analytics
  • Advise peers, leaders, and executives on communications
  • Manage development, distribution, and performance reporting for the Defence Construction Group’s internal newsletter

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in communications, marketing, public affairs, or related roles
  • Experience with Canadian federal government communications, public affairs processes, and protocols
  • Strong understanding of brand best practices and ability to execute and communicate brand standards
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a PSPC Level II (Secret) security clearance immediately after hiring
  • Bilingualism in English and French is a requirement
  • Working knowledge of data analytics and ability to measure and evaluate marketing and communications performance
  • Experience with web, print, advertising, video, and social media channels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, and related communications and design tools
  • Strong storytelling, editing, proofreading, research, and content development skills
  • Ability to create audience-focused communications
  • Ability to build relationships and act as a trusted communications advisor
  • Construction industry and B2B communications experience considered assets
  • Photography, videography, and graphic design experience considered assets
