About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare and support corporate income tax compliance filings and related tax reporting requirements
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax provisions, including financial statement disclosures
  • Collaborate with Corporate Finance and operational teams to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance
  • Research and interpret Canadian tax legislation, regulations, budget announcements, and emerging tax developments
  • Support federal and provincial indirect tax obligations, including sales tax compliance, reporting, and stakeholder support
  • Liaise with tax authorities and external stakeholders regarding audits, assessments, inquiries, and other tax-related matters
  • Provide tax guidance, training, and support to project accounting teams, operating offices, and business stakeholders
  • Participate in tax consulting and advisory projects, delivering practical business solutions across the organization
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including tax automation, data analytics, technology enhancements, and improved reporting tools
  • Assist with specialized tax projects involving corporate structures, acquisitions, transfer pricing, international taxation, BEPS developments, foreign reporting requirements, tax incentives, GRIP, safe income, and surplus calculations
  • Keep current with tax legislation, administrative guidance, and developments relevant to PCL’s Canadian and international operations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting, tax, or finance experience
  • Completion of, or near completion of, the Chartered Professional Accountant designation
  • Currently enrolled in or actively pursuing the CPA In-Depth Tax Course is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of Canadian income tax legislation, tax reporting requirements, and compliance obligations
  • Understanding of corporate tax provisions, tax accounting, and financial reporting principles
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research capabilities with attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with TaxPrep, CaseWare or any other tax technology or automation tools is considered an asset.
