About the role
- Define and own Payrails’ analytics strategy, ensuring alignment with company goals and product direction.
- Establish best practices for reporting, data governance, and metric definitions across teams.
- Champion self-serve analytics by empowering teams with the tools and training to explore data independently.
- Work closely with Data Engineering to ensure our data infrastructure supports scalable, trustworthy insights.
- Drive a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and continuous improvement through analytics.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to translate data into decisions.
- Lead and grow the analytics team, setting clear priorities and enabling team members to thrive.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading an analytics or data function, ideally in a high-growth or product-driven environment.
- Hands-on expertise with modern analytics tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Metabase.
- Strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of data modeling concepts.
- Familiarity with dbt, modern data warehouses (Snowflake preferred), and orchestration tools like Airflow.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, translating business needs into data products.
- High level of ownership, strategic thinking, and a proactive attitude toward solving problems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — you're able to align business and data effortlessly.
