About the role

  • Build and operate a cross-functional data stewardship community; onboard stewards, facilitate working sessions, and promote best practices
  • Investigate and document data quality challenges; collaborate with data owners, stewards, and engineers to drive resolution
  • Define standards for business terms, data definitions, and lineage; enhance metadata and catalogs and influence adoption across business and technical teams
  • Align with InfoSec, Privacy, Legal, and Compliance teams to operationalize controls that meet regulatory obligations
  • Bridge the gap between data producers, consumers, and engineering teams to help everyone speak the same data language
  • Influence without authority, create forums for knowledge sharing, and embed best practices into daily team rhythms

Requirements

  • 6+ years in data governance, stewardship, or data management
  • Strong understanding of data quality, metadata, and stewardship principles
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience diagnosing data issues across datasets
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS Redshift, Snowflake) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker)
  • Ability to influence without authority and collaborate across teams
  • Excellent communication skills — you translate technical concepts into business-friendly language
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for data accuracy and consistency
  • Certifications like CDMP or DGSP (preferred)
  • Experience with tools like Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or Microsoft Purview (preferred)
  • Knowledge of data modeling and architecture (preferred)
  • Exposure to Agile or Lean methodologies (preferred)
