About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with applicable regulations, including prevailing wage requirements.
- Administer certified payroll reporting for subhaulers and independent owner-operators.
- Audit payroll records to verify accuracy, proper worker classification, fringe benefits, and hours worked.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly.
- Utilize and maintain reporting systems, including but not limited to: LCP Tracker, DIR, PRISM Reporting, OCIP (Owner Controlled Insurance Program) reporting platforms, Elation Systems and EMARS.
- Communicate with subcontractors, subhaulers, and owner-operators to ensure understanding of reporting requirements and compliance obligations.
- Provide guidance and support during onboarding and ongoing certified payroll processes.
- Maintain accurate, organized payroll and compliance records for audit readiness.
- Monitor adherence to applicable labor compliance regulations, including prevailing wage laws (e.g., Davis-Bacon and related acts, where applicable).
- Coordinate with both internal and external customers to ensure compliance with jobs, including but not limited to customers, general contractors, subcontractors and government agencies.
- Handles employees' inquiries regarding payroll checks or deductions on their paychecks.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous high-volume certified payroll reporting experience in construction, transportation or infrastructure industries.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in certified payroll, labor compliance, or related field.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft software such as Word and Excel.
- Understanding of union/non-union and prevailing wage payroll.
- Demonstrates flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem-solving.
- Proven time management and follow-through skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
- Current knowledge of applicable federal and state wage and hour laws and taxation.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Display superior written and oral communication skills and effective listening skills.
- Maintain a tactful, mature, and professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse personnel.
