About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with applicable regulations, including prevailing wage requirements.
  • Administer certified payroll reporting for subhaulers and independent owner-operators.
  • Audit payroll records to verify accuracy, proper worker classification, fringe benefits, and hours worked.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly.
  • Utilize and maintain reporting systems, including but not limited to: LCP Tracker, DIR, PRISM Reporting, OCIP (Owner Controlled Insurance Program) reporting platforms, Elation Systems and EMARS.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, subhaulers, and owner-operators to ensure understanding of reporting requirements and compliance obligations.
  • Provide guidance and support during onboarding and ongoing certified payroll processes.
  • Maintain accurate, organized payroll and compliance records for audit readiness.
  • Monitor adherence to applicable labor compliance regulations, including prevailing wage laws (e.g., Davis-Bacon and related acts, where applicable).
  • Coordinate with both internal and external customers to ensure compliance with jobs, including but not limited to customers, general contractors, subcontractors and government agencies.
  • Handles employees' inquiries regarding payroll checks or deductions on their paychecks.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Previous high-volume certified payroll reporting experience in construction, transportation or infrastructure industries.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in certified payroll, labor compliance, or related field.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft software such as Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of union/non-union and prevailing wage payroll.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem-solving.
  • Proven time management and follow-through skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Current knowledge of applicable federal and state wage and hour laws and taxation.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Display superior written and oral communication skills and effective listening skills.
  • Maintain a tactful, mature, and professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse personnel.
