About the role
- The Senior Data Engineer defines, develops, tests, analyzes, and maintains data and data applications.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders in the conceptualization and development of database and/or application functionality.
- Assist in the research, definition, development, and documentation of deliverables, and specifications in collaboration with team members.
- Monitor, investigate and implement improvements to database design and performance.
- Test new and existing applications for the purpose of correcting errors and general debugging.
- Participate in defining application and database development plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
- Deploy database changes through environments to production upon completion of development, testing, and documentation.
- Define and employ best practices for data engineering.
- Mentor/coach and conduct code reviews based on defined best practices.
- Provide data and software support for bugs, issues, and escalated incident tickets from end users.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or equivalent work experience
- 6+ years of application development or data science experience with increasingly complex projects.
- Comprehensive understanding of data, development and product life cycles.
- Comprehensive understanding of data engineering and industry best practices.
- Experience with data modeling, ETL frameworks, and distributed systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to conduct research into data and database-related issues and products.
- Ability to conduct research into data-related issues for software products and systems.
