About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the end-to-end sourcing strategy for consumable packaging supplies, including evaluating the current single-distributor model and recommending the right structure as volume grows
  • Lead supplier and vendor negotiations, RFPs, and contract structuring
  • Build a repeatable supplies-procurement playbook for each new warehouse launch
  • Right-size inventory and reorder logic for facilities of varying sizes
  • Own the supplies-spend budget across the network and execute cost-reduction opportunities
  • Track cost-per-unit-shipped and establish spend visibility by site, category, and supplier
  • Serve as the primary contact for distributors and suppliers, managing performance, service levels, and issue resolution
  • Select and/or implement lightweight tools for inventory tracking, demand forecasting, and purchase order management
  • Partner with Warehouse/Site Operations, Finance, Real Estate/Facilities, and Sustainability/ESG stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain experience
  • Experience managing indirect/consumables spend and vendor relationships directly
  • Direct experience sourcing packaging or consumable supplies strongly preferred
  • Ecommerce, fulfillment, 3PL, or distribution-center experience highly valued
  • Comfortable operating as a hands-on individual contributor
  • Demonstrated success negotiating supplier/distributor contracts and managing supplier performance
  • Experience with inventory management or procurement systems, including ERP, WMS-adjacent tools, or dedicated procurement platforms
  • Comfortable using data for spend analysis, forecasting, and cost-per-unit tracking
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to travel regularly to warehouse sites (30–50%, increasing during new site launches)
  • Experience evolving a distributor-managed sourcing model toward direct ownership
  • Experience procuring for a growing multi-site network in a lean, resource-conscious way
  • Familiarity with ecommerce marketplace fulfillment requirements
  • Experience managing supplier relationships across multiple U.S. regions with varying freight and lead-time dynamics
