About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and oversee software engineering for Pattern’s central administrative, authentication, authorization, and security infrastructure
- Maintain, scale, and optimize existing central authentication and authorization applications
- Triage, scope, and build feature requests from cross-functional teams across Pattern
- Write, test, and deploy back-end code using Ruby and Go
- Design and enforce fine-grained RBAC across internal platforms and external APIs
- Collaborate with engineers, product stakeholders, engineering leadership, and cross-functional teams to integrate core security services
- Automate administrative workflows and integrate AI solutions to improve operational efficiency
- Monitor performance, reduce technical debt, and ensure high system availability
- Prioritize and build a high volume of feature requests while maintaining application stability and performance
- Delegate and monitor repeatable feature and maintenance work with junior engineers
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of back-end software engineering experience focused on core security, identity, or platform systems
- Proven experience building and maintaining central Authentication and Authorization systems
- Direct experience with RBAC/ABAC frameworks and security protocols including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and JWT
- Strong capability to manage competing feature requests from multiple internal teams while maintaining legacy codebases
- Solid background with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL
- Experience with REST/gRPC APIs
- Experience writing back-end code using Ruby and Go
