About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and oversee software engineering for Pattern’s central administrative, authentication, authorization, and security infrastructure
Maintain, scale, and optimize existing central authentication and authorization applications
Triage, scope, and build feature requests from cross-functional teams across Pattern
Write, test, and deploy back-end code using Ruby and Go
Design and enforce fine-grained RBAC across internal platforms and external APIs
Collaborate with engineers, product stakeholders, engineering leadership, and cross-functional teams to integrate core security services
Automate administrative workflows and integrate AI solutions to improve operational efficiency
Monitor performance, reduce technical debt, and ensure high system availability
Prioritize and build a high volume of feature requests while maintaining application stability and performance
Delegate and monitor repeatable feature and maintenance work with junior engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years of back-end software engineering experience focused on core security, identity, or platform systems
Proven experience building and maintaining central Authentication and Authorization systems
Direct experience with RBAC/ABAC frameworks and security protocols including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and JWT
Strong capability to manage competing feature requests from multiple internal teams while maintaining legacy codebases
Solid background with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL
Experience with REST/gRPC APIs
Experience writing back-end code using Ruby and Go
