About the role
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for designated agencies in compliance with GAAP
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
- Maintain and analyze general ledgers to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Partner with organizational leadership to prepare meaningful financial reports and variance analyses
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
- Support annual audits and revenue recognition processes by preparing the required documentation
- Assist with the budgeting, forecasting, and process improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with Patriot agency contacts to resolve discrepancies and ensure efficient operations
- Oversee operational accounting areas including commissions, premium payables, and cash management
- Mentor and guide any assigned accounting staff to support their professional growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Business-related field
- 3+ years of relevant accounting experience in the insurance industry
- Prior supervisory experience over other staff accountants
- CPA or progress toward the CPA certification is preferred
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and insurance brokerage financial reporting
- Proficiency in financial statement preparation and analysis
- Prior work experience with Applied Epic or other insurance agency management systems (AMS)
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite tools
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, large datasets) and comfort with high-volume data analysis
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships across teams and lead with integrity.
