About the role
- Leads efforts to grow existing partnerships by identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities across active clients
- Shapes proposals and renewals into compelling, insight-driven stories that align agency expertise with client goals
- Oversees and leads Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and annual planning sessions, translating data and insights into action
- Measures client satisfaction and drives a proactive approach to retention, renewal, and expansion
- Maintains awareness of account profitability and supports healthy margins through thoughtful scoping and resource planning
- Ensures new clients are set up for success from day one through structured immersion sessions and onboarding processes
- Partners with department leads to define success metrics and align collaboration expectations early
- Builds and maintains account plans that connect client goals to agency strategy
- Identifies new service opportunities (digital, data, influencer, sustainability, or AI-driven insights)
- Collaborates with department heads to align agency innovations and client growth initiatives
- Builds strong, multi-level relationships across client organizations—from day-to-day contacts to C-suite leaders
- Mentors and develops the Client Engagement team, setting clear expectations and accountability to performance standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- 8+ years in a marketing or agency environment managing multimillion-dollar client relationships
- Proven success leading executive-level client conversations, renewals, and growth initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, lead, and develop high-performing teams
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen
- High emotional intelligence and ability to “read the room”
- Skilled in negotiation, proposal shaping, and storytelling
- Strong understanding of omnichannel marketing (digital, media, creative, print)
- Financial literacy—comfortable discussing margins, scope, and profitability
- Excellent collaborator across departments and leadership levels
- Strong follow-through and accountability; delivers on commitments
- Adaptable and resilient under pressure; maintains professionalism in challenging situations
