About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide onsite system diagnostic and analysis support to customers within a geographical territory or assigned account
- Respond to customer system failures through computer hardware service, testing, diagnostic analysis, and systems analysis
- Provide timely, professional, and effective responses to customer service needs
- Perform remote problem analysis before arriving at customer sites and determine needed parts and documentation
- Perform cost-effective onsite service while maintaining professionalism and courtesy
- Communicate with customers and the customer support center during repairs and projected delays
- Analyze software and hardware error logs using diagnostic, troubleshooting, and operating system analysis techniques
- Analyze, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair data center hardware, storage area networks, and system configuration and compatibility problems
- Use remote system connection tools for diagnosis, repair, and configuration changes
- Follow customer-specific repair procedures and assess current and future customer needs
- Determine needed parts and quantities based on service contracts
- Return defective or excess parts and manage inventory counts, including bi-yearly physical counts
- Complete and return audit forms, email replies, timesheets, and expense reports
- Attend team meetings and record activities using Field Point time reporting utility
- Participate in after-hours on-call rotation and service equipment within the designated service area
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience working with OEM data center hardware and ability to learn new products and concepts
- Successful prior field experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- CompTIA A+ and Server+ preferred
- Availability for after-hours, on-call rotation
- Valid driver’s license and appropriate driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform physical activities including pulling, lifting, squatting, reaching, bending, and stooping
- Active position requiring walking, standing, squatting, bending, and driving for over 50% of the workday
- Potential requirement to work at height, including use of ladders
- Ability to pass customer background screenings and Park Place Technologies pre-employment screening
- High School Degree required
- Ability to travel to client sites up to 75% of the time within a predetermined territory radius, including up to 4+ hours one way by car
- OEM computer hardware certifications from vendors such as Dell, IBM, and HP helpful
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred
