About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and lead causal inference frameworks to identify drivers of retention and subscriber value
- Partner with Lifecycle Marketing and Product to turn causal findings into actionable levers across content, onboarding, pricing, and promotions
- Link content and subscriber journey optimization to ARPU, survival, and LTV outcomes
- Design, launch, and analyze A/B tests across acquisition, onboarding, involvement, and win-back journeys
- Build and maintain LTV and survival models for Finance and DTC teams
- Lead subscriber journey mapping to identify causal impact on retention and monetization
- Conduct pricing and promotion analyses, balancing short-term conversion with long-term value
- Explain technical findings to non-technical DTC and Finance teams
- Manage, mentor, and grow data scientists and analysts; set technical standards and review methods
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and Product Analytics to maintain reliable experiment, behavioral, and billing data systems
- Share findings with senior leaders to shape roadmaps and investment decisions across Marketing, Product, and Finance
- Report to the VP of User Lifecycle Analytics
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Data Science, or Computer Science)
- 10+ years in data science/analytics, including hands-on and team-leading work
- Experience with causal inference methods, including diff-in-diff, propensity matching, instrumental variables, uplift modeling, and synthetic control
- Experience designing and analyzing A/B tests and experiments at scale
- Ability to handle novelty and network effects and selection bias in experiments
- Experience building or running LTV, survival, or churn models
- Ability to translate models into financial metrics such as ARPU and retention curves
- Strong SQL skills
- Proficiency in Python or R for causal modeling
- Proven track record leading and growing a team of data scientists or analysts
- Ability to present complex work to senior leaders and shape decisions
- Experience working across Marketing, Product, and Finance teams
- Knowledge of pricing awareness/elasticity work and smart promotion design
- Subscriber/customer journey mapping skills
- Experience with Bayesian or ML-based causal techniques, such as double machine learning and causal forests
- Familiarity with cloud data warehousing/BI tools such as BigQuery, Databricks, Looker, or Tableau
