About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Originate, research, lead, write, produce, and edit news segments for television and digital platforms
Collaborate with CBS Detroit’s team to ensure seamless coordination and execution of news
Work in the control room and demonstrate adaptability and composure in fast-paced situations
Seek new ideas and approaches to connect with the audience
Assist in growing digital-first content
Support digital, social, and breaking news coverage
Lead all aspects of newscast production

Requirements

What you’ll need

2+ years of experience as a line producer
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Broadcast Journalism or related field preferred
Excellent organizational and communication skills required
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including morning schedules, holidays, and weekends
Must be a team player and able to work under deadlines and multitask
Impeccable grammar, spelling, and attention to detail
Strong editorial judgment, effective communication, and critical thinking skills
Strong understanding and ability to incorporate the web into daily coverage
