About the role
- Lead the creative development and delivery of motion design for the department’s most high‑profile, complex and business‑critical campaigns.
- Own projects end‑to‑end, from brief through to delivery, ensuring concepts are strong, ideas are clearly expressed, and execution meets the highest creative standards.
- Establish and maintain a consistently high creative benchmark across all output, ensuring both MTV and Comedy Central brands are represented with confidence, clarity and impact.
- Act as a senior guardian of brand consistency, with a strong working knowledge of style guides and brand systems, supporting their accurate application across all work.
- Alongside the Design Director, support the stewardship of internal design resources, tools and style guides, encouraging their effective and responsible use.
- Provide creative direction and support to freelance designers, including onboarding, access to resources and clear guidance on brand application.
- Step in for the Design Director when required, supporting day‑to‑day design decisions, prioritisation and creative continuity.
- Collaborate closely with producers and creative leads to develop coherent and effective graphic solutions that add clear creative value to on‑air and digital content.
- Keep campaign objectives front of mind, ensuring all work is audience‑aware, on brief and aligned with wider marketing goals.
- Contribute bold, original and forward‑looking ideas, helping to evolve the brands and keep them relevant within a fast‑moving creative landscape.
- Stay curious and informed about design, motion, cultural and audience trends, with particular sensitivity to youth‑facing visual language.
- Explore and champion new technologies, workflows and creative approaches where they add value.
- Deliver graphic elements to agreed timelines and budgets.
- Work collaboratively with transmission and post‑production teams to ensure accurate and effective implementation of graphics.
- Apply strong post‑production knowledge to problem‑solve effectively, particularly within fast‑paced, creatively ambitious environments.
- Maintain awareness of competitors, the social and digital landscape, and the wider UK streaming market.
Requirements
- Expert working knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Strong proficiency in Cinema 4D is a significant advantage.
- A solid understanding of animation principles.
- A strong grasp of design fundamentals, including typography and layout.
- Well-rounded experience across post-production techniques and workflows.
- Experience creating broadcast graphics, or a demonstrably strong motion/design reel.
- Strong understanding of social and digital platforms and their visual language.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage complex projects with autonomy.
- A confident and considered communicator, comfortable working with senior stakeholders and external collaborators.
- Highly creative, with a clear passion for design and motion.
- Self-led and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership.
- A collaborative team contributor who leads through example.
- Able to remain calm, focused and effective under pressure.
