About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and implement features, APIs, and services across Java/Spring Boot, Next.js/React, Python, Kafka/PubSub, and Solr search pipelines
Become an expert in CMS platform components and codify that expertise through conventions and agent-readable documentation
Lead small-to-medium projects from inception to delivery, including scoping and coordination
Debug complex technical issues, tune performance, and perform root-cause analysis
Improve development tooling and system efficiency while reducing technical debt
Mentor less senior engineers through code reviews, pairing, knowledge sharing, and AI-augmented workflows
Collaborate with partner teams on seamless integrations and cohesive experiences
Participate in on-call rotation, incident resolution, and RCAs
Interview and onboard new team members
Build scalable services for Paramount Streaming’s content management platform powering Paramount+, Pluto TV, and CBS.com

Requirements

What you’ll need

BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent applicable experience
5+ years of professional software engineering experience
Strong experience with Java (17+) / Spring Boot and TypeScript / React / Next.js
Experience with Python, relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL), and CI/CD pipelines
In-depth knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with search tools like Solr and Elasticsearch
Experience with message brokers (Kafka, GCP Pub/Sub) or cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with content management domains or media/streaming platforms
Experience with container orchestration and DevOps practices
Experience with technical writing and design documentation
Daily fluency with AI coding tools and ability to direct and review agent-generated code
