About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and deliver complex, high-impact features for the merchant platform from initial requirements through testing, documentation, and deployment
Collaborate with Product to resolve ambiguity and define scope and requirements
Lead solution design discussions and architect scalable systems
Write clear technical documentation and make pragmatic reliability-focused decisions
Champion SRE standards for code quality, testing, and supportability
Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback
Triage and debug complex issues
Participate in the team’s on-call rotation
Mentor and support the growth of other engineers
Communicate asynchronously across GitHub, Slack, and Google Workspace
Build systems that improve merchant onboarding, management, retention, and user experience

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of professional software engineering experience
Deep experience designing, building, and operating scalable distributed services
Experience designing for reliability, performance, and availability
Comfortable working in Go
Experience with Kubernetes and modern infrastructure
Experience in containerized, cloud-based environments
Experience with financial systems or fintech, or strong understanding of payment flows
Understanding of regulated, high-stakes environments
Experience across the full software lifecycle, including design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration
Business acumen and understanding of customer product usage
Ability to balance speed, quality, and complexity in ambiguous situations
Ability to quantify impact, use data to guide decisions, and measure outcomes
Ability to work collaboratively, take initiative, and operate effectively in an asynchronous remote culture
