About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and execute the engineering vision for hardware and embedded systems.
- Oversee end-to-end product development, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Build and mentor a high-performing engineering organization across multiple disciplines.
- People management for a mixed team of senior hardware and software engineers.
- Partner with Product Management, Operations, and Quality teams to deliver innovative, market-leading solutions.
- Drive technical excellence, process improvements, and continuous innovation.
- Manage budgets, resources, and timelines for complex, multi-phase programs.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven leadership experience managing both hardware and embedded device software projects.
- ODM and contract manufacturer relationships — SOW negotiation, acceptance testing, vendor accountability.
- Strong background in engineering strategy, product development, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Expertise in system architecture, hardware design, and embedded software integration.
- Ability to lead large, distributed teams and drive complex programs from concept to launch.
- Demonstrated experience managing senior individual contributors who need little technical direction from their manager
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain considerations, and quality assurance.
- Familiarity with IoT ecosystems, connectivity protocols, and firmware development.
- Commercial hardware product domain — POS, drive-through, consumer electronics, industrial, or adjacent.
- Experience with compliance standards (e.g., FCC, CE) and product certifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on scalability and reliability.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and modern development practice.
- BSEE or Computer Engineering.
- NPI and manufacturing transfer experience through production handoff.
- Audio or Drive-Thru system experience highly preferred.
