Key responsibilities & impact

Define and execute the engineering vision for hardware and embedded systems.
Oversee end-to-end product development, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Build and mentor a high-performing engineering organization across multiple disciplines.
People management for a mixed team of senior hardware and software engineers.
Partner with Product Management, Operations, and Quality teams to deliver innovative, market-leading solutions.
Drive technical excellence, process improvements, and continuous innovation.
Manage budgets, resources, and timelines for complex, multi-phase programs.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Proven leadership experience managing both hardware and embedded device software projects.
ODM and contract manufacturer relationships — SOW negotiation, acceptance testing, vendor accountability.
Strong background in engineering strategy, product development, and cross-functional collaboration.
Expertise in system architecture, hardware design, and embedded software integration.
Ability to lead large, distributed teams and drive complex programs from concept to launch.
Demonstrated experience managing senior individual contributors who need little technical direction from their manager
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain considerations, and quality assurance.
Familiarity with IoT ecosystems, connectivity protocols, and firmware development.
Commercial hardware product domain — POS, drive-through, consumer electronics, industrial, or adjacent.
Experience with compliance standards (e.g., FCC, CE) and product certifications.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on scalability and reliability.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies and modern development practice.
BSEE or Computer Engineering.
NPI and manufacturing transfer experience through production handoff.
Audio or Drive-Thru system experience highly preferred.
