About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead live, video-based Math tutoring sessions for small groups of students during after-school hours
- Meet with the same students multiple times per week for 30–45-minute sessions across an 8–12-week program
- Maintain the same recurring weekly schedule for the full duration of the program
- Prepare for each session using provided lesson plans and materials
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Build rapport with students and encourage active participation
- Adapt instruction to varying student abilities, learning styles, and needs
- Administer ongoing informal assessments and adjust support accordingly
- Deliver consistent, high-quality tutoring aligned with curriculum standards
- Acknowledge and implement feedback from quality assurance observations
- Collaborate with the team and communicate proactively via Slack
- Tutor Math up to Grade 6
Requirements
What you’ll need- Reliable availability during after-school hours every scheduled day for the full program
- Ability to tutor Math for elementary students in Grades 3–6
- Strong verbal communication skills and comfort facilitating live virtual sessions
- Proven ability to engage students and build rapport
- Strong time management, organizational skills, and reliability
- Adaptability to diverse student learning styles and needs
- Stable internet, webcam, microphone, and distraction-free workspace
- Willingness to receive feedback and engage in continuous improvement
- Must reside in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, West Virginia, or Wisconsin
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience in education or tutoring
- Preferred: Experience working with students in Grades 3 and above
- Preferred: Degree in a relevant field
- Preferred: Experience with technology-enabled or remote instruction
- Preferred: Ability to tutor at least one additional subject for middle and high school students in Grades 6–12
