About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Examines and treats patients independently and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals following established standards and practices.
  • Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
  • Works under minimal supervision under the direction of the collaborating physician, as appropriate.
  • May lead and/or direct the work of others within the scope of practice.
  • The NP will assist collaborating physician, with work surrounding patient admissions and discharges.
  • Assists the collaborating physician in coordinating patient admissions and discharges.
  • Responsibilities include reviewing patient records, obtaining relevant health and medical histories, performing physical examinations, and documenting pertinent findings in the medical record.
  • Conduct patient rounds to monitor progress and assess overall health status.
  • Perform or order appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures, and formulate differential diagnoses as indicated.
  • Manage cases by identifying individual patient needs based on collected data and implementing physician-directed treatment plans, which may include both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments as authorized under the Medical Practice Act, Chapter 157.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree with Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification from an accredited program.
  • Current Active Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)/Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the state where hospital resides.
  • Current ACLS and Healthcare Provider/BLS certifications required.
  • Current national certification with an accredited testing organization.
  • Interventional Radiology and/or Vascular experience to perform procedures such as chest tube placements, paracenteses, thoracenteses, and tunneled catheter procedures.
  • Successful completion of an educational program for physician assistants accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
  • Current unrestricted State license as a Physician Assistant.
  • Valid and current certificate issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) and must possess a current ACLS certification.
  • Evidence of continuing education (CE) as required by their state licensing board.
  • Interventional Radiology and/or Vascular experience to perform procedures.
