About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Examines and treats patients independently and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals following established standards and practices.
Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
Works under minimal supervision under the direction of the collaborating physician, as appropriate.
May lead and/or direct the work of others within the scope of practice.
The NP will assist collaborating physician, with work surrounding patient admissions and discharges.
Assists the collaborating physician in coordinating patient admissions and discharges.
Responsibilities include reviewing patient records, obtaining relevant health and medical histories, performing physical examinations, and documenting pertinent findings in the medical record.
Conduct patient rounds to monitor progress and assess overall health status.
Perform or order appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures, and formulate differential diagnoses as indicated.
Manage cases by identifying individual patient needs based on collected data and implementing physician-directed treatment plans, which may include both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
Prescribe medications and treatments as authorized under the Medical Practice Act, Chapter 157.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master’s degree with Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification from an accredited program.
Current Active Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)/Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the state where hospital resides.
Current ACLS and Healthcare Provider/BLS certifications required.
Current national certification with an accredited testing organization.
Interventional Radiology and/or Vascular experience to perform procedures such as chest tube placements, paracenteses, thoracenteses, and tunneled catheter procedures.
Successful completion of an educational program for physician assistants accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
Current unrestricted State license as a Physician Assistant.
Valid and current certificate issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) and must possess a current ACLS certification.
Evidence of continuing education (CE) as required by their state licensing board.
Interventional Radiology and/or Vascular experience to perform procedures.
