About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the Water, Oceans and Waste Action Platform as a forum for engagement, technical deepening and mobilization of companies interested in the agenda, ensuring coherence and alignment among prioritized topics.
  • Structure and monitor projects and initiatives linked to the platform, connecting concept, timeline, deliverables and company participation, with the technical rigor that underpins the credibility of the Global Compact with participating companies.
  • Convene companies, specialists, partner organizations and other stakeholders around common agenda challenges, promoting collective discussion and responses.
  • Manage relationships with sponsors and supporters and seek funding for platform projects, in collaboration with the involved teams, ensuring consistent delivery of projects and agreed deliverables.
  • Manage the platform team, setting priorities, distributing activities across technical work, corporate engagement and operational execution, and supporting the team’s professional development.
  • Represent the agenda in meetings, workshops, events and institutional dialogues, when required, in coordination with Executive Management, for topics where Executive Management is the established institutional interlocutor.
  • Connect the platform’s agenda with other directorate streams and the Global Compact where topics require interface with other environmental or cross-cutting agendas.
  • Report to the Executive Management of the area.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completed postgraduate degree in Environmental and Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Management, Geography, Biology, Oceanography, Sanitation, Water Resources, Sustainability, Business Administration, International Relations, Public Policy or related environmental fields
  • Experience in water resources, sanitation, circular economy, solid waste management and/or ocean-related agendas
  • Project management experience
  • Advanced English
  • Team management
  • Stakeholder management
  • Influence and convening skills
  • Systems thinking
  • Executive communication
  • Master’s degree or certifications in corporate sustainability, ESG or the 2030 Agenda (desirable)
  • Experience with performance and impact indicators (desirable)
  • Spanish – intermediate (desirable)
  • Experience in fundraising and sponsor relations (desirable)
