About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, and policies
- Follow maintenance schedules and daily work assignments
- Report accidents, incidents, equipment malfunctions, and unauthorized disclosures to the supervisor or Administrator
- Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services in resident living areas
- Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, facility, and equipment
- Perform plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, HVAC, painting, and general repairs
- Clean windows and screens and replace burned-out light bulbs
- Service heating and cooling systems according to manufacturer specifications and facility policies
- Assist with room renovations and equipment repairs
- Replenish maintenance supplies and properly clean and store equipment
- Maintain confidentiality of resident care information and protected health information
- Attend departmental and staff meetings
- Inform residents when personal possessions must be moved
- No supervisory responsibilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education
- General maintenance experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry
- Ability to lift, bend, climb ladders, and work independently
- Dependable, motivated, and a team player
- A heart for serving senior residents
- Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with limited standardization
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- May assist in evacuating residents during emergency situations
