About the role
- Manage and expand Packt’s live events portfolio by aligning programming with category strategy, audience needs, and emerging trends.
- Shape the event vision for each session—balancing expert strengths, practitioner interests, and Packt’s strategic priorities.
- Identify new themes, formats, and opportunities for engagement, ensuring sessions remain relevant and market-leading.
- Make commissioning decisions that optimize both expert credibility and long-term audience impact.
- Identify, approach, and secure top-tier practitioners, thought leaders, and innovators as speakers or facilitators.
- Build long-term relationships with experts that encourage repeat participation and ambassador-level advocacy.
- Engage with technical ecosystems (GitHub, LinkedIn, Reddit, Stack Overflow, Discord, YouTube, conferences) to identify rising voices, expertise, and event opportunities.
- Maintain deep awareness of industry trends and practitioner needs to ensure events are positioned for maximum relevance.

- Acquisition Strength: Proven ability to attract and negotiate with high-profile speakers.
- Audience & Market Acumen: Strong ability to identify relevant themes and ensure live sessions resonate with practitioner audiences.
- Community Knowledge: Familiar with developer ecosystems and the channels that drive live engagement.
- Strategic & Organized: Capable of managing an event pipeline, prioritizing effectively, and aligning programs with Packt’s goals.
