About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for the preparation of GAAP, statutory, and regulatory financial reporting
  • Prepare monthly internal GAAP financial statements and management reporting package
  • Prepare quarterly and annual NAIC statutory statements
  • Prepare risk-based capital (RBC) calculations and regulatory filings
  • Consolidate and analyze financial results across the group's entities
  • Prepare, review, and post month-end journal entries
  • Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions
  • Own the income tax compliance workpaper-preparation
  • Prepare and coordinate recurring indirect and local tax filings
  • Research and respond to tax notices and agency correspondence
  • Develop reports and perform validation and user-acceptance testing for Workday changes
  • Identify and implement process improvement and automation opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience
  • Insurance statutory and regulatory reporting experience strongly preferred
  • Hands-on income tax provision experience (ASC 740 and/or SSAP 101) strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA license preferred but not required
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with statutory (SAP) accounting
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and general accounting and business practices
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (Workday experience a plus)
