About the role

  • Supports underwriters by evaluating and processing commercial insurance applications and submissions
  • Gathers and reviews documentation, enters data into underwriting systems, and prepares quotes
  • Communicates with agents and brokers to ensure submissions are complete and accurate
  • Processes automated and manual transactions: quotes, new business, renewals, endorsements, audits, cancellations, interim billings, and related activities
  • Sets up and manually rates transactions not fully automated and completes manual transactions including forms and Declarations
  • Monitors emails and assigned work; records statistical information for reports; reconciles inconsistencies across systems
  • Assists with Bond tasks and special projects as assigned
  • Participates in team training, follows group expectations, organizes and prioritizes workload independently
  • Applies new knowledge through practice and feedback; works with CSS and other teams to resolve errors and account or agency issues

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of one (1) years’ experience in a clerical support position, preferably in the property/casualty insurance industry
  • Prior commercial lines rating experience preferred (Business Auto, Workers’ Compensation, BOP, Commercial Property, General Liability, Umbrella)
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Good PC skills, with an emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Good proof-reading skills
  • Ability to see and effectively use a computer monitor and operate computer/office equipment
  • Ability to access and enter information accurately using automated systems
  • Ability to hear and communicate via telephone and present information to individuals and groups
  • Ability to maintain acceptable attendance and adhere to scheduled work hours
