About the role
- Supports programs and initiatives related to Energy Systems Strategies and climate policy
- Works with internal departments, industry peers, and other partners to influence state decarbonization policies and align them with company priorities, funding constraints, and future business needs
- Influences company, regulatory, and industry priorities based on inputs from customer research, business impacts and PG&E strategies and priorities
- Monitors and manages a broad portfolio of regulatory proceedings and issues to ensure alignment with policy areas that influence cost-effective decarbonization
- Attends related meetings; reads, summarizes, and critically evaluates applications, filings, and proposed decisions
- Writes testimony; provides proactive feedback to PG&E teams to ensure the company’s decarbonization strategy is consistently represented at CPUC, CEC, and CARB
- Integrates industry knowledge into everyday business practices and decision making
- Researches, analyzes, benchmarks and presents on relevant decarbonization market, regulatory, and policy topics as they relate to the regulated utility
- Reviews and comments on proposed legislation relevant to decarbonization in partnership with the government affairs team
- Leverages contacts inside and outside the Company to pressure-test and refine solutions
- Works collaboratively and proactively across internal and external stakeholders to understand and evaluate areas of policy alignment and identify gaps; communicates the PG&E decarbonization position effectively and across functions to influence decisions
- Leads the team’s strategic engagement work – including creation and preparation of professional presentation materials, the physical and logistic coordination of meetings and site visits, supporting operating reviews at the Net Zero Command Center, and developing high quality and compelling communications materials to engage PG&E leadership, internal program management teams, external stakeholders, and customers as required
- Supports the team’s commercial work including aiding in the development and execution of external contracts, like non-disclosure agreements, and some project management as required
- Facilitates collaboration among internal teams, ensuring projects progress effectively and consensus is reached on key decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy, statistics, mathematics, business, finance, sociology, engineering, physics or other related fields or equivalent work experience
- Six or more years of relevant experience
- Three or more years performing analytic work related to electric or natural gas policy, planning, regulation, or wholesale markets
- Performing project management, product development or analytic work related to electric or natural gas policy, pilots, planning, regulation, or wholesale markets
- Understanding of electric and/or gas system operations and engineering principles and electric and gas utility regulations and regulatory process
- Superior writing skills; proven experience in formal and legal writing
- Collaborative with high organizational awareness. Respectfully builds trust with diverse stakeholder
- Experience crafting high‑stakes communications (decks, exec memos, dashboards) with impeccable narrative and visual standards
- Hands-on event/meeting operations experience including end‑to‑end logistics coordination
- Proficiency in managing multiple proceedings simultaneously, prioritizing, and delivering quality results on time
- Can effectively communicate with credibility, confidence and clarity highly complex ideas to diverse audiences.
