About the role
- Support transmission and distribution protection engineering projects and M&O activities under supervision
- Assist with protection design requirements, relay settings documentation, and development of testing procedures
- Support review and analysis of system disturbances, relay operations, and operating events
- Assist in preparation and maintenance of technical documentation, reports, and engineering records
- Support equipment evaluation, approval processes, and protection standards development
- Collaborate with engineers, field personnel, and other stakeholders to support protection engineering activities
Requirements
- Earning a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electric Power Engineering or related engineering field at an accredited University
- Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work location
- EIT or FE certification (desired)
- 2.75 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA (desired)
- Engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation (desired)
- Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members (desired)
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills (desired)
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written (desired)
- Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction (desired)
